The Coincidence Of The iPad and the One Room School Slate Board
iPad is the same size as a student's slate board from the one room school house in the early 1900's.
Coincidence Steve Jobs?
I might not be the first person to see the comparison in size of an iPad to an one room school house slate board from the 1920-30’s. I grew up across the road from a one room school house. When I cleaned out my parent’s house in the attic I found this slate board that was used by a student in the school house.
I have it in my office with some chalk and it makes a great conversation piece.
With my iPad next to the slate board, I noticed how much they are the same size even including the border.
Do you think Steve Jobs made the iPad to be the same size of a student’s slate board from the “old days” in a one room school house? Today, students sit with the iPad on their lap or desk….just like the students did in the one room school with the old slate board….or is it a tablet??????????

UBUNTU PROJECT
Time Frame Of This Project: 2013 - 2014 School Year.
Where Will Ubuntu Be Used? Ubuntu will replace Windows XP on the older netbooks. Currently First Grade classrooms are using Ubuntu. A pilot program in the Spring of 2013 will be started in the Middle School
What About Existing Applications And Software? Comparable or better Free or Paid Web Based services/applications will replace installed software.
Why Use Ubuntu?
Fiscally Responsible Installing Ubuntu on older netbooks that do not support Windows 7 will allow FCSD to continue to use Netbooks that would otherwise be recyled, and puts more devices in the hands of the students. Unbuntu is free under the Open Source agreement.
Interaction and Exposure Unbuntu on the FCSD netbooks will emulate the interaction with applications and Web browsers of an iPad or tablet. (no need to log on to FCSD network) Ubuntu allows teachers and students to interact with a new operating system. Ubuntu is in the Open Sourcefamily
