Course Description
Come explore one of the top online alternatives to Microsoft Office, Google Docs! This new system, powered by Google, will provide a suite of Google products that will enable students to better communicate, share, and collaborate. Documents are stored online and accessible from any computer utilizing Google's cloud computing strategy. You will be joining over 12 million other students and teachers that are already using Google Apps at schools around the world.
The Fall Creek Business and Information Technology Department is excited to offer Google Apps as it represents an important step towards developing a 21st century approach to curriculum and learning. These tools will support the high levels of collaboration that are required in today’s classroom to prepare students with the communication and collaboration skills they’re going to need.
The Intro to Google Docs class will cover all the basics of using Google's free, web-based software and storage service. Google Docs can be used for business or personal needs, and can be used to create budgets, presentations, word processing, and even drawing. This class details why Google Docs can be so useful, what applications are available, security concerns, and hands-on instruction using various Google Docs. Upon completion of this class, students will be able to create, edit, and share their own Google Docs, as well as learn useful short-cuts and formatting considerations.
