PERSONAL FINANCE
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Personal Finance is a one-semester course that focuses on developing personal financial skills that encourage financial responsibility as a student, citizen, family member, consumer, and employee. This course is designed to give students practical knowledge of financial matters that they will face now and after they graduate. Students will learn how our economy works, services offered by financial institutions, set up a workable budgets, wise use of credit, use checking and saving accounts, manage investments, discuss various types of insurance, consumer rights and responsibilities, and prepare taxes. Students will also complete a semester project/simulation through Junior Achievement and participate in the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce’s “Real Life Academy”.
