PHYSICAL EDUCATION
GRADES 6-12
A STUDENT IS EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN physical Education classes to meet state requirements as developed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Ten (10) points each day can be earned by the student in class. If the student dresses in appropriate physical education clothing, participates in daily activity(s) and demonstrates proper appropriate behavior. The points will then be entered in the grade book to determine the letter grade for the class.
Points can be lost or “deducted” for the following reasons:
Points Lost
A. Absent without a proper excuse from the office.
(Example: Skipping class) - 10 *
B. Not dressed in proper gym clothes nor participating . - 5
C. Use of offensive or obscene language. - 3- 10
D. Inappropriate behavior (comments, gestures, etc.) - 3 - 5
E. Absent from class. - 5
F. Tardy to class. A tardy is earned when attendance is to
be taken after changing into P.E. clothes. - 3 *
G. Injured and can not participate, with a doctor’s note. – 0

NO MAKE UP POINTS ALLOWED.
Make up Points:
If a student loses points, for any reason, they can “Make Up” points by doing the following of a student’s choice with the teacher’s permission. No student can “bank” points, however! The points must be made up within the two-week period from losing the points or no make up points will be allowed.
Points
5 - Doing 20 (pushups, sit ups or mountain climbers). Student’s choice.
Also running 5 laps around h.s. gym.
3 - Doing 20 (push ups, sit ups or mountain climbers) Student’s choice.
3 - Doing a one page paper either hand written or typed on:

· favorite sport
-
· athlete you most respect
-
· favorite sports team
-
· new activity for class
-
· other ideas agreed upon by instructor.
3 – Helping teacher pick up equipment used in class and putting it away.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLOTHES
1. proper shoes (tennis shoes, basketball shoes, etc.)

2. socks

3. gym shorts (please no zippered pants or cutoffs)

4. t-shirt (no drug, alcohol or tobacco advertising or offensive message).

5. possible sweatshirt when outdoor activities are planned. Instructor will let students know when they will be outside in advance.
Change of Clothes:
No student should go back to class with the same clothing they wore for Phy. Ed. Class.
Lockers:
Gym lockers are available for use. Please use locks if you have valuables with you. The instructor or school district is not responsible for lost or stolen items of value.
Showers:
Showers will be available and are recommended for all students. Towels will NOT be provided.

B = 87-82
B- = 81-80
C+ = 79-78
C = 77-72
C- = 71-70
D+ = 69-68
D = 67-62
D- = 61-60
F = 59-0
