Welcome to the Department of Special Education. The Fall Creek School District provides special education services and accommodations to those students who meet the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s criteria and need special education programming. We provide programming that is individualized and inclusive to meet each student’s unique needs.
Parents, school district staff, and the student, as appropriate, are all involved in determining eligibility for special education. A student may qualify under one or more of the 11 disability categories including: Wisconsin administrative rules for identifying disability category criteria can be found in Wisconsin Administrative Code, Section PI 11.36. This covers the areas of autism, blind and visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing, deafblind, emotional behavioral disabilities, intellectual disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, significant developmental delay, speech or language impairments, specific learning disabilities, and traumatic brain injury.
If a student is determined eligible for special education services an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) will be developed for students. Parents, school district staff, and the student, as appropriate, are important team members who develop this plan.
