FINGER "TIPS" FOR 1ST GRADE
#1. Get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast every day!
#2. Respect yourself and everyone else in your school.
#3. Set a regular time and place to study everyday!
#4. Visit your library as often as you can!
#5. Share with your parents what you learn every day!
What do we do in first grade?

In first grade we study:

Language Arts: Language Arts is a combination of reading skills, spelling, and the writing process.

Math: First graders use Investigations. To learn more about our math program please go to the link below.
Math Investigations for families

Science/Social Studies: These two areas are naturally integrated into the first grade school day. These are some of the activities/units that assist the children in developing the grade level benchmarks for the particular performance standard.
* Morning Meeting Time
* Guidance
* Picture books, story books, and video
*Social Studies Big Books
* Graphing
* Weekly Reader and other classroom magazines and newspapers
* Units on holidays, seasons, mapping, safety, community, celebrations,presidents, and countries
